Publishing house and printing house in Braclav, Ukraine

Wydawnictwo i drukarnia w Bracławiu na Ukrainie

The Loretto sisters took up their work in Ukraine on 28 August 1992. They were invited by Fr. Grzegorz Tomaszewski who had been pastoral worker in Braclaw and surrounding villages since 1991. At first, the sisters stayed with one of the parishioners. They served the people, gave witness to a living faith, catechised and conducted paraliturgical services in Braclaw, Tulchyn Kopiejowka, Pechary, Niemirow and Annopol. They supported the parish priest both in his pastoral work and in the ongoing repairs of the recovered churches.

In time, a parish building which served as a vicarage, a flat for the sisters and a pastoral house was erected in Braclaw. New vocations from Ukraine were the joy of the sisters. Bishop Jan Olszański handed over the diocesan printing press in Kamieniec Podolski to the Loretto sisters in 1999. The machines were transported to Braclav and a printing house was established in the place of the pastoral house.

Through the efforts of the congregation and with the great help of the publishing house of the Loretto sisters from Rembertów, the machinery was gradually replaced. The sisters print prayer books, song books, liturgical calendars, colourful children’s magazines, books and the bimonthly magazine “Różaniec” (Rosary). Due to the large contribution, the congregation was given a parish house with a publishing house and a printing press for perpetual use. In 2017, the sisters celebrated 25 years of work in Ukraine. The main celebration took place on 30 August 2017 at the parish church of Our Lady of the Scapular in Braclaw.
