The fundamental mission of the Loretto sisters in Chicago is to support the radio station run by the Redemptorist. The headquarters of Radio Maryja connects Toruń with the Polish community all over the world.
Our daily tasks in addition to our religious and domestic duties are:
-
answering phone calls and providing information to the local Polish community about Radio Maryja and TRWAM Television,
- maintaining correspondence with donors,
- distributing valuable books and magazines.
Throughout the year, the sisters, together with the local director of Radio Maryja, Father Zbigniew Pieńkos, are invited to local parishes for a common Eucharist after which they speak about the work of Radio Maryja and promote the reading of Catholic books. The Polish community of Radio Maryja listeners greatly appreciates the sisters’ presence in Chicago. Compatriots often seek advice and support from them.
The knowledge of two cultures – Polish and American – facilitates contact with both the older generation of Radio Maryja listeners and the younger generation of their children and grandchildren who have already been born in the United States.
The Loretto sisters embrace all listeners, viewers, readers and contributors with daily prayer.
